Additionally, Chris is leaving me alone for an entire week. He's headed out to New Orleans with the Disaster Relief Association again, which is a great experience and I'm excited he'll get to go again. Last time he left my parents were cool enough to come out to Michigan and be with me. We toured the state and had a blast. But this time I'm going to be all ALONE. Does anyone remember what happened last time I was completely alone? Yes, I am scared. So anyone wanting to come out and visit - you are more than welcome. I will pick you up from the airport, I will set up the spare bedroom, heck, I'll even serve you continental breakfast every morning!
If you come out I'll even take you to JOE'S GIZZARD CITY! Yummy! Fried! Pure Awesome! Chris and I went there last month and loved it! We are totally going back! If you are wondering what it is you can check it out here.
It is a fun place to go because its in this small town with a bunch of antique shops (with the coolest hats - I would go to the Kentucky Derby just to wear one of those hats!) and have is a cafe and the other half is a bar. Naturally, we went straight into the bar!
Here's Chris Fried Chili Dog. I ordered the Joe Burger that is battered and fried. Yummy!

We even played a couple rounds of pool! I won the first round, then I let Chris win the second round (so he wouldn't feel bad ;). It was so much fun, I think we should play pool more often! Plus, I'm thinking about picking up darts, I'm actually pretty decent at it!
Last week was my 24th Birthday! Man am I young still! But I absolutely have to show off my birthday cake Chris made me. Don't you just love the fireworks explosion reference? What a great tribute! We have had so much fun looking at the cakes on there and almost take pictures of the cakes we see at the store to send them in.

For my birthday Chris even took me to see the musical, Lion King. It was absolutely amazing and I loved it. I think it may have crawled to the top of the list of my favorite musicals. It was incredible how elaborate the costumes were and how beautiful the dancing was. Plus, Rafiki was unbelievably good, I've never heard anyone sing like that before.
Just so you know, I'm 3 for 3 on clothes washers. Since we've been married I have broken every washer we've used. I don't know how (or why) I've acquired this skill, but it is disasterous. Washer #1, Cedar City, we were living in the basement and it flooded our basement and then stopped spinning. We fixed the flooding part, but couldn't get it to start spinning on its own, so whenever I ran the laundry I would have to give it a push start! It was so funny! Washer #2, Canal Club Apartments in Lansing, the washer leaked yellow oil everywhere for months until they replaced it a week before we moved! Washer #3, Current home, doing a half load of darks and it stopped at the soaking cycle. Can't get it to start again and my clothes are soaked. Any suggestions on how to help the mechanically challenged?
Finally, an update on school. I have no idea. I think I may have to wait until I can establish residency in Utah again to finish my masters. What a bummer!

Oh Kara. If Chris's adventure had been a week earlier I would have been SOOO tempted to come see you. We had this week off school and it would have been awesome to see Michigan. Maybe I can convince Troy that instead of a cruise or whatever other adventure he's planning this summer we should go to Lansing instead. Or I should devise a secret plan to get my bro to go to med school in Ann Arbor and then we'll have double the excuses to visit! We miss you guys!
happy belated birthday, kara! you ARE still young!
too bad we can't come back this week and next... growing up and having a job isn't that much fun ...
