Yesterday was Lansing's "Be A Tourist In Your Own Town" day. Basically, you pay a dollar to get a passport and you can go to tons of different businesses, parks, and sites in Lansing for FREE!
We first went to the Michigan State Capitol, one of 13 state capitols to be considered a historical marker. Yes, it is normally free - but usually its only open for tours Monday - Friday so I've never been able to go through. It was pretty neat, as you can see it has an awesome ceiling and three very high levels. Unfortunately, I forgot to get a picture of the glass floor, sorry!
Then we went to the Potter Park Zoo. Funny story, as we were parking the car Chris looks at the car next to ours and says, "Hey, that looks like the Fowler's car." Well, low and behold - it was! We met us with them in the Zoo and had fun seeing the zoo through kids eyes! It was bird migration day at the zoo, so everything had birds related to it.
Then we went and picked up some dinner and met the Fowler's at the park. We were supposed to go paddle-boating, but the line was so big that we weren't able to. We are definitely going back to go paddle-boating though - it looks like so much fun! Instead we ate, used the playground, and played on the beach. After two years, we still haven't done everything in Michigan - I still think we are tourists!

Yeah... Michigan is open!
I totally know what you mean! In fact, we never even toured the Capitol and I was down there practically everyday for school! There's a lot of stuff I wish we had done while we were there so I hope you guys live it up! The next year will fly by!
